The USF Conflict Resolution Collaborative offers a wide range of educational programs in alternative dispute resolution including mediator certification, parenting coordination, advanced mediation and other ADR courses and operates the USF Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program in the 12th Judicial Circuit of Florida in collaboration with the American Arbitration Association.  

Our mediation certification courses are approved by the Florida Supreme Court and our Parenting Coordination Course meets the training requirements in FS 61.125(4).  In addition, the USF Family Mediation Certification Course is approved nationally by the Association for Conflict Resolution.   Most of our courses provide continuing education credits for mediators, attorneys, mental health professionals, physicians, nurses and certified public accountants.  Specific continuing education information can be found in each course description. 

Please note that additional requirements for mediator certification by the Florida Supreme Court are described in the pamphlet “How to Become a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator”  which can be found by visiting The Florida Dispute Resolution Center link and selecting Mediator Qualifications in the upper left hand corner of this webpage.  Additional requirements for Parenting Coordinators are described in FS 61.125(4). 

Registration is limited to Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Court, Family or Dependency Mediators. Others may register with permission of the instructor. Most USF Conflict Resolution courses listed on the this website (including the mediator certification, healthcare negotiation/mediation and parenting coordination courses) are eligible for continuing mediation education (CME) credit up to the maximum length of the course. Since the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) does not pre-approve continuing mediator education activities, it is up to each mediator to determine if a course will meet the CME requirement. Such determination includes considering whether a course has "significant, current intellectual or practical content and shall constitute an organized program of learning directly related to the practice of mediation." (Administrative Order AOSC08-23 In Re: Procedures Governing Certification of Mediators). Therefore, each mediator must determine if the course would enhance their skills/knowledge as a mediator. For each area of mediator certification, a course may qualify for a different number of CMEs as some courses may more directly apply to one area of certification than another. Mediators are required to self-report hours applicable to their areas of certification at the time of their renewal.
